I have a control (search box) in my Default.master page. I added a textbox watermark to my search textbox in the control. When I hit the search button and redirect the to the searchresults.aspx page which has
a repeater and an updatepanel I get the above shown error.
Can I just add one ScriptManager to the Default.master page or how can I avoid this problem???

I have a ScriptManager in my Default.master page:
<!-- Manages "Atlas" components, partial page rendering, client requests, and server responses on ASP.NET pages. -->
I have a ScriptManagerProxy in my “SearchBox” control which is in the Default.master page:
<!-- Enables nested components to add script and service references to pages whose parent element (such as a master page or a user control)
already contains a ScriptManager control. -->
When I search for “nba” for example I get redirected to my searchresults.aspx page and when I hit the next button to get the next 10 search results I receive this error message
and my searchbox control has all of a sudden 2 textboxes.
I get the following error message:
Assertion Failed: Duplicate use of id “ctl00_SearchBox1_TextBoxGoogleSearch of object of type “Sys.UI.TextBox”.
My searchresults.aspx page has a ScriptManagerProxy as well:
Can anybody help?

I had the same problem and i solved by using the scriptmanager only in the master page. Sice the master page is in control of other pages, u just have to use the <asp:UpdatePanel> and the <ContentTemplate> in the other pages, which use the Master pages..
Hope this helps you
