I have a file upload utility developed in ASP.NET 2.0. It is working on my local webserver, putting files in a subfolder called "Uploads" in the App_Data folder (to prevent browsing of the files). The ASPNET account has write permissions on this folder.
This is working fine. However, when I publish the app to my GoDaddy hosting account, I get "access denied" errors. I assume that I need to give the ASPNET account write access on the uploads folder, but I'm not sure how to do this. I guess my question is:
How do you set the ASPNET account permissions on a directory on a hosting server,
How do you create a new directory that can only be accessed/written to by the ASPNET account and not browsed by anonymous IIS account?

Recently, I converted my app from 1.1 to .Net 35. Now, I am getting error: access to file in my upload folder is denies.

You should give write directory/file permission to IIS_WPG account.

I think you will have to set full control ASPNET user. You can go to uploads folder->properties->set the permissions for full control.Try giving permissions for "Everyone."
