I've had this error happen also. For lack of a better way to put it, seemed like all of a sudden VS2005 just "forgot" about my reference to the ODP.NET assembly I added to my web site. I have gotten around the error by deleting the visual control(s) that
were linked to my objectdatasource and then adding them back to the web form and resetting the properties.
The only time I've received the error was with web sites I created that were using an Objectdatasource that referenced some business/data access objects I was prototyping.
BTW, ODP.NET is installed on my development machine where VS2005 is running and I added a reference to the website to the ODP.NET assembly in the GAC.

Something interesting concerning errors I've received that are related to this. It seems like the IDE "forgets" my using statement once an error occurs.
For example, on my web page in the code behind I had the using statement for the Oracle Assembly for ODP.NET. I don't remember exactly what happened to get the error at first but once I got it I had to delete the code line that the IDE was stating it couldn't
find the reference. I then added it back in and the IDE had no problem with the newly added code. This was the exact same line I had just deleted! I then found the compiler now complained about my next in code reference of the assembly. To get it to compile
I had to delete/add each reference back into the page then it compiled with no errors.
Strange defect that definitely can cause a lot of extra typing. Anyone else experience this error?
