Has anyone out there found a workable solution for MSSQL backup and restore on a GoDaddy shared hosting plan? For those who may not know, GD does not allow EM access, and grants only limited Web management access that does not include backup and restore. They
do provide the Web based Query Analyzer. So we would be looking for a solution that would run from Web QA, or from a file on the web server such as an ASP or ASPX based solution. The backup lite utility mentioned in the forum only does one part of the job.
A replication scheme that could work in either direction would be a plausible solution as long as you could easily and manually activate it in either direction. I am just looking for a way to backup before I install new modules and such.
I understand other providers might allow EM access and such, but I have other reasons for specifically wanting a solution that works within the GoDaddy parameters. I would be willing to purchase a product as long as I know it would work, although a script I
can implement sans-cash would be even better.
I know godaddy is amongs the cheapest services in the world for hosting. I would atleast expect them to do database restorations.. even at a cost.
If your application is working with critical information and you are having this much trouble dealing with the ISP now, I'd recommend looking somewhere else.
I don't give anyone on my servers EM management - due to the issues with security. However, I'm assuming you did the full install, not the one click version, so you have host access, and can therefore install modules - this is a great reliable module and
I use it extensively even when upgrading modules.
It only saves the DB file for you to download from your file manager, but not the web files but I assume you would also have ftp access so you could download your files manually.
anyone find a nice db backup utility that can back up from a remote database server?

Why not try the backup module from http://www.gruposur.com.uy
