    Hi,

clean install of DNN4. When I try to use the file manager (e.g. upload files as host or admin), I get the following error message:

    A critical error has occurred.
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

    Strange, isn't it?

    Cheers,

I can confirm I also encountered the above error.  By the way, have you tried and succeed in uploading a module in DNN 4?

I will not try. I have removed the DNN4 installation from my server. It's rubbish. I am going to stick with DNN 3.1.1

I cannot upload language pack, but the module upload works fine. I use SQL 2000, not Express 2005

I am also getting all sorts of errors relating to file upload manager.

I get the following error when trying to upload a file thru the file manager

    A critical error has occurred.
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

Then when I try and upload a skin I get the following error

Error: File Upload is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Cannot access a closed file. ---> System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a closed file. at System.IO.__Error.FileNotOpen() at System.IO.FileStream.Seek(Int64 offset, SeekOrigin origin) at System.Web.HttpRawUploadedContent.TempFile.GetBytes(Int32 offset, Int32 length, Byte[] buffer, Int32 bufferOffset) at System.Web.HttpRawUploadedContent.CopyBytes(Int32 offset, Byte[] buffer, Int32 bufferOffset, Int32 length) at System.Web.HttpInputStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) at ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipInputStream.FillBuf(Int32 size) at ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.ZipInputStream.GetNextEntry() at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.SkinController.UploadSkin(String RootPath, String SkinRoot, String SkinName, Stream objInputStream) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileSystem.WebUpload.cmdUpload_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in D:\DotNetNuke\Website\Admin\Files\WebUpload.ascx.vb:line 466 --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

    Any help is appreciated.

I'm getting the same errors too.

After spending two days stuck in support tickets I finally got my sites all shifted to an ASP.Net 2.0 server only to have this problem start to happen.

It's not very consistent however... I have two 3.11 sites that continue to run without error. One 3.11 site that was changed to a new domain now gives errors in the exact same situations as described above, but with slightly different wording, and one brand new 4.0 site that give the exact same errors as above.  All sites are on the new server.

What's the fix? My host will likely throw a spaz if I turn around and ask them to shift it all back to .Net 1.1 again. I want to stay with 4.0 but can't do so without uploads working.

In addition to posting this issue in this forum I also e-mailed the company that I had purchased some Skins from and they tested their setup with DNN4 & explained that they had the same experiance. So we are definitely are not alone. Here is the response I received from them.

"We have compare Skins from V3.x and V4.x no changes needed between this Versions. We have setup also a V4 DNN Test-Site and become the same error.

When you login as host and download a skin-Package from DNN 4 and upload this we become the same error. Here is a error by dnn 4 self or by the configuration of this but not by us Skin-Package.

When we found a Solution for this we send you also this.

    Thank you
Your DNN Skin Makers Team "

Please if anyone has a fix I would really appreciate hearing about it since I really like DNN & would really love to leave Ver 4 in place .

From the debugging that I've done it looks to me like the problem is with the SharpZipLib. http://forums.asp.net/1107164/ShowPost.aspx

I believe all of this is the same issues as several other threads in the forum e.g. http://forums.asp.net/1107164/ShowPost.aspx

There is a general problem when uploading modules, and using the File Manager to create folders or upload files. I've put a halt on dealing with my webhost to resolve this and will wait until it has been looked at by the core team.

I too am getting the same error on a new DNN4 installation at Alentus. Has there been a resolution to this problem?

BTW, I can upload a file via the Site Settings dialog, but in the File Manager as soon as I hit the Upload button I get teh error. I never get to specigy a file to upload.
