You pass the control a table with the menu information in it. What I did was added a ParentID (int) field to the Tab table to set up the sub tabs. So all Tabs with a ParentID of 0 are the main tabs (menus). In the code I
load the authroized tabs for the current user's role, and pass this as the information to the menu control.
This way the menus are built from the tabs, and yes, the permissions are applied bucause it's the portal that gives the tabs to me.
I also added fields specific for the menus in the tab table (target, image, etc..).
I haven't done this yet on an almost vanilla copy of the portal starter kit I have, so in the next few days I'll set it up and document all of the changes and post them here for you. (Adding the new field, adding the controls to edit the information, and loading
