Hello,
I am looking at Hosted Messaging and Collaboration as a potential product for Mail Hosting.
Is there any information available on the design principle? Say if I have a 1000 SMB clients (require their own domain name) with 10-50 users per business how many front and back servers are recommended?
I tried to find it on the web with no success...
Any help will be appreciated.
you need at least 2 front end servers, for OWA/Mobile recommended 3 for 100% availability. THIS CAN SUPPORT up to 60,000 users
you need 3back end servers for 5000 mailbox, if the client use is MAPI, but if its POP or other light protocol then the back end servers can handle much more, 50,000 mailbox can make your CPU 80% in case of DL5** servers, 4*1.5 cpu and 8GB ram.
for exact values, check the IOPS and CPU calculations from the above link.
