Has anyone replaced the DNN Menu with another menu control? I have the component art (ComponentArt.com) controls and would like to use their menu control instead of the dnn menu. Anyone here done that?

    Thanks!

Hmm I belive at least aspnetmeny and the telerikmenu have been used for Dnn. I am even fairly sure that there is allredy providers written for both, for certain for Dnn 2x but my guess is that people that holds licence for the respective menus allready have upgraded to Dnn 3x.

    Telerik R.a.d Menu  (Demo)
Try this link for telerik.  There is one skinobject written for Telerik menu, and the skinobject is written for Dnn 3.0.13. You are in luck. See the last page, at the bottom.

    ComponentArt
    Check out this link.

Always do proper research before a purchaseBig Smile [:D]

Well you will be more then happy to live with the aspnetmenu. It is rather good. Used it for a 2x project for a client.
As for the other controls from telerik, if there is anything you fancy they will work just as well with Dnn as componentart.
Have even seen a site that used both menues.....but as it turned out it did look good.

I've got a SmartLinks skinobject that replaces the default menu. It's currently in closed beta, but if you'd like to check it out, shoot me an email.

you can see it in action @ my dnn3 website. I'm planning on getting it released very shortly. I've got maybe 5 or 6 users now testing it, and I haven't had too many issues so far.
    Thanks,
    Oliver

Come to think of it, there is a few really good ones developed by Dnn'ers as well.

Nokiko is almost done with a css menu pack release ready maybe this week?

Inventua, great side menu. They also have a horizontal one I think.

Smcculloch had a skinobject with antoher menu embedded. Sure he has upgraded it.

    Housemenu this is free.

    Yetanotherfree menu

    A css menu.

Also take a look at taskhand, I belive they have a menu coming out anytime soon now.

I hope I didn't leave anyone out. But if others know about different options not listed pls add them as well.

I would highly recommend SmartLinks menu.  I have been working on making DNN as cross-platform friendly as possible since the SolPart menu is not very Mac friendly.  I was using CoolMenu which is great, but it doesn't have the action menu replacement inside the modules which is what crashes on Mac and old browsers.  Oliver has been incredible with the support for SmartLinks and I have found it to be the most important purchase of my DNN business.  I am slowly migrating all my sites to use SmartLinks now.  The control I have is incredible as well.  I can skin a very advanced nav system in less than a half hour now which use to take a LOT longer.  If you care about having close to 99% of surfers to be able to use your site you should stick with CoolMenu or SmartLinks.  I've tested all others and they have fallen short.  HouseMenu is also very compatible, but until there is a skinobject I can't use it as a menu replacement.   Have fun!

    FYI

Telerik skinobjects are to be released this week tomorrow or day after. I al allready playing with the RC ( the perks of being an MVP )

We are currently developing a sample DNN site with our controls already integrated. The skinobjects are already complete, featuring also an installation manual. This should be available tomorrow. It looks great :)

Well, this might have been true up until a couple days ago.  Jon has been working on making the solpart menu Mac IE 5.2.3, and Safari compatible.  Except for one little nit w/submenu borders and w/main menu hover color (if you use a top-level different hover color that is) overriding the normal top menu color for IE, solpart now works fine in both 10.4 and 10.2 as I can attest.  I believe Jon is working on fixing those last 2 nits in the near future.  Also, the only nit w/safari is that the sub submenus vertical location appears to be ignored...and Jon is aware of this nit also.

Besides that, solpart works fine for Mac now.  I know, because I've been working w/him to test it, and I'm a pretty anal-intensive kind of tester. ;-)  You can download the latest version from Jon's website (v 1.6), though I don't know if he's updated the menu.js file w/the latest fixes.  You can emai him.  He seems to be a pretty nice dude...and I know he's taken a lot of hits about solpart browser capability in the past, but those days are behind us now.

Wow, thanks guys for all your info!!

For those of you like me who have bought the ComponentArt menu (which I am very happy with), they actually have a DNN skin object (i think...i'm not quite sure what a skin object is actually): http://www.componentart.com/forums/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=42

You may have to be registered as a beta tester to see the forum. This DNN / Component Art integration component was done up by the guy who runs http://www.speerio.net/  | http://blogs.speerio.net/peerio/CategoryView,category,DotNetNuke.aspx

    Thanks again,

    Darren

This looks like a great menu system, but you can not navigate in Explorer or Safari on a Mac.  Any suggestions for a menu system similar to this that supports the Mac?  Thanks.

    Nokikko,
I have tried to install your menu on DNN 3.Is there an instructions file or something somewhere, cause I gets nothing. When I install the PA, it says it installs ok, but when I go to the Modules list, it isn't there...
