I'm posting this here, as the original post has fallen a few pages back already. For those who aren't aware, Jon Henning, the developer of the solpart menu, doesn't have access to a Mac for testing of the menu (or any of the other DotNetNuke functions such as the ClientAPI, DNNTree etc.). Up to now, he's been relying on community feedback, or else paying for Mac access at local internet cafe's.

This is a crazy situation, as the menu is a corepart of a system used by 150,000 people, a great many who would benefit from better Mac browser support. Expecting Jon to further be out of pocket by buying a MacMini, especially considering the vast amount of free work he's put into the menu, and dotnetnuke as a whole is IMHO not fair, so I suggested that Jon set up a paypal link where hopefully the community can help towards the purchase. You can find the paypal link here , I'm sure any contributions would be highly appreciated (I've already put my money where my mouth is and contributed)

    Thanks,

    Cathal

the powerpc emulator might be free, but the mac osx license isn't, besides its a lot of work to get it running .... $500 for a machine that runs mac osx natively seems a bargain ...

    cheers,

I can't afford to do a lot of 'in the name of DotNetNuke please donate' things, but I did drop some bucks in the pot. Looks like he's 40% of the way to the mac mini I hope he gets there. I also hope that purchases of the new DNN book help you guys too. I can't wait to receive mine.

    Later.

I might be working for a little elementary school (ok donating to, not working for) in the not too distant future.  Mac functionality is a must.

    I just donated a a few bucks.

    phr0ze,

Don't worry, this isn't the first in a sequence of 'in the name of DotNetNuke please donate' type posts. This is just an easy to rectify area of weakness we've had for a long time. By the way, I made the original post as a dotnetnuke community-member, and not under any coreteam umbrella.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to date.

    Cathal

btw, dnn used to accept donations but dropped it.

Cathal just to be a Devil [6] so how do we know when you are being a dotnetnuke community-member?

Pretty soon we will have three categories.

    1) DNN Core- Microsoft Employee

    2) DNN Core Non-Microsoft Employee

    3) DotNetNuke community member.

Not to mention the inner core and outer core classifications.

Dropped a few bucks in myself, but only because the Mini is SO COOL.

Hopefully he has at least a 512M PC3200 stick sitting around to put in it (and a couple of putty knives to install it...)
