Please someone help me out here....why would you release a version that won't work and have to many bugs.
Sure there are always problems but when the problems are the main functions that part I simple don't understand.
After purchasing a domain name www.dotnuke.com and
www.dotnuke.ca my goal was to setup child portals so people/clients could demo a new website and tryout.
However when setting up a childportal there is no confirmation email to advise customer login information. nadder nothing.
Then while trying to insert a image in gallery, while in text/html module keeps login you out without saving.
Now I am no wizz at this but you would have thought that these (2) problems, "I am to frustrated to find more" would work,
hmmmmm... you didn't tell us what version you are working with... I have not seen those problems in either the 2.12 version (which is incredibly stable and robust) or the latest build of DNN 3... are you sure of your setup / configuration ?
I would humbly suggest that you become a little more versed in how DNN works before you begin offering free portal signup. There is plenty of assistance available here... just ask a few detailed questions.
As with any sophisticated server software... configuration can require some work to setup correctly for your particular environment.
Kind Regards,

I can confirm that my earlier report about the host settings disappearing after creating a child portal was reported just before version 3.0.13 came out. I also provided the solution, however the fix for this problem didn't make it into the latest version
even though it is marked as completed in the bug tracker.
Sending a test message from the host's smtp settings section still results in a CDO message error.
Opening up the "Insert image from gallery" on the freetext box either results in an error message or logs you out.
So yes I agree, there are still ( a lot ) of bugs, some of them make the product impossible to promote to end users (sorry to say).
Forgive me but things don't work, sophisticated server software is not the problem here.
The functions are there to be used and they don't. Login for host and setup childweb it's not a difficult thing todo but why is there no confirmation email to tell new client/customer login information.
Why when trying to edit text/html module opening image gallery there is no save and boot you out.
I wish only to point out these problems.
If you have a working system please help maybe we are doing something wrong our end and you could advise.
I got the same issue: getting a blank confirmation email, subject stating "Demo Portal setup" (why Demo?). I first thought, that the text was forgotten during localization, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Has anyone got a correct portal setup confirmation with 3.0.13 yet?

I will confirm that my new portal notification emails are blank.
Password reminders and all else seem to work.
As far as the comment about won't work and has so many bugs, sheesh...

Yes, the Text/Html image gallery bug on child portals is a known issue:
http://forums.asp.net/861372/ShowPost.aspx (http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=989)
The confirmation e-mail may be due to invalid setup of SMTP and or Host/Admin e-mail accounts. Do other e-mails work from the Main Portal?
