    Well, this is the ultimate ASP.NET test. We've had the portal for months, maybe even a little more then a year. Most of us know how to write modules, or atleast change the CSS file. Its time to show off your portal! Just post a link to your site, and breifly describe its purpose!

    If anything, this is a great thing for all the members (like me!) that are building a portal, that want to see what other people can do to this amazing codebase!

    I look foward to looking at everyone's rendiditon of the portal...

    We plan to show off our portal shortly, just cleaning it up. We have made a lot
    changes. The IBuySpy portal was a good start but there needed to be a number
    of enhancements. Here is a small list...

    * Added drag-n-drop for configuring tabs and sub-menus,
    * Added min./max./ and close buttons for all modules,
    * Allow for dynamic configuration and saving of your presentation ( what modules are
    minimized,maximized,closed, etc. and then saving that configuration on a per-user basis,
    * Layered the code better , DAL, BLL, etc. for better manageability, maintenance, etc.
    * Multi-tier menus
    * Password and data encryption,
    * Strong Name utilization,
    * etc.

    If you would like more information either send me email at wjanderson@reedtek.com
    and I'll send you a brochure, or wait for an announcement next year ( jan. time-frame).
    I'll send out the URL for all those interested and will post-back here later.

    There are a number of other things we have been considering for updates but
    as time and resources become more readily available we will address it then.

    Here is a Portal that I use to demo portal add-on modules... It is a work in progress and I show on this site some of what I am planning as another tool that I planned to release around the first of the year... see the demo dropdown lists.

    Here is a sample of what I am doing for the current portal it is database driven and uses xml for tab, titles, and border styles plus allows hidden tabs and links in titles.

    see www. flexaspnet.com

    More info

    As to the dropdown list next to the Tabs ...these dropdowns are thier only to show you my idea.

    You can use the viewadmin button see the Tabs, Titles and border in the database.

    When opening up the flex editor in admin mode (which i can not show right now) you will be able to build tabs with images,backgrounds, bullets and fonts, color and type from a pallet, you will be able to use bullets and background images of your choice. (you can design and use your own set of images and gifs)

    You will be ables to build and these tab sets to your set of tab themes. I will also supply samples.

    Your tab themes are saved as a xml file and can be sent by email or a webservice or manually installed as an xml file specfic to a portal design (ie..yes multi too). When the portal is initialize the xml file loads the theme for that portals site design. (problem here is that the portal and database will have to be able to accept the xml themes..so existing portals will need major modifications. So I am planning on what I call a FlexEditor portal as designer and a FlexClient Portal for the user)

    Each client portal can have it's own set of tabs and can then be changed from time to time if you change the site design. using the xml file.

    For titles the same is true as above but more ....You will be able to design each title differnently or in the same style, You can have differnent fonts familiy, colors, bullets, backgound etc, plus even use image based titles. You can even add link buttons or hidden tabs below the titles. you have the flexability to design titles with a consentent look or individually.

    Please Note: The above also applies to subtitles.

    The same is true of the border styles. you can select them for all or for a specfic modules. You will be able to display annoucements, events or links horizontally or vertically. Plus I plan to add dropdown shadows.

    I hope what I am doing is of some interest to you.

    Biomash,

    I noticed that you put the login button in the banner and took out the form to sign in. I am trying to do the same thing on my site and am having problems. I have tried a couple of ways with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
