That picture is so funny. It's just so corny. Anyways if you look up the word innovate. (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=innovate Nobody actually innovates any more, because everything
is based off of something else. I bet if you tried hard enough you can trace the computer back to the invention of the fire some how. And to offer a converse to your Bill Gates doesn't innovate because he "stole" from the Mac. Well the Mac "stole" from Xerox.
And Linus "stole" the core of Linux from the ideas developed by AT&T at Bell Labs and their introduction of Unix. You are talking about the stealing of ideas, and Linux is just too close to how Unix works to not have the ideas "stolen". So in actuallity Microsoft
has innovated with Windows just as much as the Linux Kernel team has innovated with the Kernel. Because they get all their work from Universities, same as Microsoft, and Apple, and FreeBSD, and etc. do.
I'm a little tart with you nberardi. FreeBSD clearly notes that it's based off the 386BSD patchkit. It's apart of their site, and apart of the culture. To point it out next to Microsoft and Apple and even that bastardized unix kernel called linux is offending.
:) hahahaha sorry. I had to take that stab at linux. Anyways, you're right about windows being initially designed by Xerox. Actually, Gates and Microsoft happens to be an extraordinarily large share holder of Apple. That's the only reason Apple lived past
that legal battle with Microsoft a decade ago. Mac users don't realize that Microsoft kept their biggest competitor (in terms of closed source) alive. Their beloved G4 line up was the product of Microsoft's investment in the Apple Corporation. I believe Oracle
is being targeted in the US Anti-trust cat/mouse game. In fact, they even have a microsoft executive standing on the witness stand against oracle. hah gotta love it.
> You are a bit of an OS basher Typical Linux guy, if somebody doesn't like your OS they are bashing it and should be called a Troll, I just don't understand where all this hate comes from in the Linux community. There is very little to none of that in the
Apple community, Microsoft community, BSD communities. Each of the 3 communities that I listed all seem to take the attitude of live-and-let-live, however the one community that I always find people with a hugh chip on their sholder is the Linux community.
Be happy in your own community life is short. You have a good product. It is never going to reach the heights of Windows on the home desktop, not because Microsoft is keeping it down, but because the product isn't up to the same level as Microsoft and Apple
in terms of useability. LIVE WITH IT, OR MAKE A GOOD DESKTOP MANAGER. > Because they get all their work from Universities, same as Microsoft, and Apple, and FreeBSD, and etc. do. No if you go back, I wasn't bashing at all I was just stating that the
technology that goes into the OS's Linux included all come from research, and if you didn't have the huge companies like Microsoft and Apple and DARPA the research money wouldn't be there to advance any of the OS's.
::That's the only reason Apple lived past that legal battle with Microsoft a decade ago. You say that like Microsoft was doing them a favour. MS's investment in Apple was the product of losing the lawsuit against Apple. Even though it's MS cash that kept them
alive at this point, it was MS that put them in that position.
War doesn't determine who is right, it determines who is left.
::Linux is just too close to how Unix works to not have the ideas "stolen" Haha, you never heard of POSIX have you? that's ok, neither has Microsoft. Linux is based on an interoperability standard, therefore cannot deviate from being compatible with Unix. To
say that it was stolen when it was based on a common open standard while being developed from scratch is horse sh!t. You are full of sh!t nberardi.
War doesn't determine who is right, it determines who is left.
