Hello: Here is a nice riddle that will decrease your productivity.... There are 3 guys... Each give $10.00 to buy a $25.00 bottle of Alcohol. The bartender has to give $5.00 Change... The bartender puts $2.00 in his pocket... and gives each guy $1.00... So
did you figure out how much each guy gave for the bottle? Did you count the money that the bartender has in his pocket? What happened to the $1.00?? Good luck...
As far as I can work out he puts $30 into the till (each of the 3 guys give $10), takes out $5 as the change ($25 is now in the till) puts $2 of the $5 change into his pocket and gives each of the 3 guys $1 in change (3*1+2 = 5) as for what happend to the $1,
I don't see where $1 dollar disappears to. Each guy looses in the transaction a total of $9.3333333... the bartender gains $25 in the till and $2 in his pocket. No missing money! It didn't decrease my productivity. It's 00:58 AM here and I've just finished
the new custom authentication system for my site www.dlpwd.co.uk, leaving the registration page for tomorrow (later today considering the time.)
Hello: This is where the $1.00 disappears... Each guy gives $10.00, each guys gets $1.00 back... So the total they have paid for the alcohol together? $27.00 + $2.00(that is with the bartender) = $29.00... What happened to the $1.00?
The total payment is $30. The beer = $25. The change = $5. Bascially, read the change -- that is where things throw your off. Of that $5, $2 is pocketed by the bartender. Leaving with $3. Three guys, therefore, $1 each. It all works out. :-) .
Hello: Well if you were the bartender, then you would probably do the math like that, having it equal the amount they gave $30. But when the three people try to do the same math by doing 9 $ multiplied by 3 men equals $27 , plus $2 bartenders pocketed money
equals 29$, not 30$... Where did the $1 go?
He worded it incorrectly in the first place. But most of these riddles just require some abstract thinking -- I heard one for the first time over an interview and I probably surprised the interviewer when it took me 15 seconds to bring up the correct answer.
Well... it took me like five seconds but I did not want to sound like I heard it before so I waited a further ten seconds :-D . The smartest move I ever did ;-) .
