This topic seems to be covered every month or so, which is rightly so as technology and hosting companies seem to change quite often.

Do you have a great dedicated server hosting provider that has worked out well for your DNN deployment? I'm in the market to move my servers around and would like to see if any of you have some positive feedback. I currently have a few servers at www.theplanet.com and am having many problems. I have actually had the past few months free (saving thousands of $$) due to every month there are problems which cause my SLA to refund my money 100%. While this is nice because the hosting is free, in the end, it is bad because I require a stable host.

    Thanks in advance!

I have had great success with EV1.net. I have not found another provider who can match their bandwidth/price ratio. If you have large files you are redistributing, this can be a very big deal since with some of the providers you can start running upwards of $1000/Mo. just to cover bandwidth cost.

I have been very happy with Server Beach http://serverbeach.com/catalog/ The price is right and they now offer ftp backup. I have never had any downtime issues and support always responds quickly.

There are a few others here who use them as well. I know because they have used my referral # which I am very grateful for (http://www.serverbeach.com/catalog/index.php?REF=89AFFJQ3QG) if your so inclined :)

And I think they are still there.

I have been using them for nearly a year now.

I second EV1.net. I have been with them over a year now. Only had one problem the IP addresses, but they resolved that quickly. I have been very pleased with the reliability and service.

I've been using http://www.1and1.com for the past few months with good success. I lease a dedicated Windows server for $89 a month and it's working out pretty well. I've not had any downtown or performance issues.

Use my affiliate link if you are interested in this service. http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=7786999

    Thanks!

    Thank you for the comments!

Could you do me a favor and visit http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and tell me what speed you each get on your server?

    Thanks :)

Be careful with 1 & 1. I use them currently but am in the process of leaving them. Performance has been great with them, and the price is certainly right But the problem is that, if there is a problem, the only solution is for them to re-image the server. That's right, if you cannot get in via Teminal Services, you cannot pay for remote hands. Not at any price. Going forward we will use them for testing and development, but not for production.

I tried to test my 1and1.com server with the bandwidthplace.com/speedtest but kept getting this error:

"The speed result was too high or too low"

The FAQ on bandwidthplace.com says they can only test up to 8 Mbps lines.

So, I jumped over to DSLReports.com just to see what range my connection might be in just to make sure I wasn't on the "too low" side. :-)

    2004-12-16 16:23:38 EST: 1929 / 6303
Your download speed : 1976283 bps, or 1929 kbps.
    A 241.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked?
Your upload speed : 6455083 bps, or 6303 kbps.

I've always found the results from DSLReports.com to be subjective and generally lower than actual due to their own bandwidth limitations.

Of course, your mileage may vary but I'm feeling pretty good about my $89 a month investment now. :-)

While on the subject, any opinions regarding Plesk versus Helm for a control panel?

Joe, which are you using at EV1?
