gsnow, I can make all the MG features available in the 3.x release of NukeHTML. Since NukeHTML already supports embedded controls and token replacement, it cab be extended to parse MG tokens just by creating and adding a usercontrol that implements the necessary
MG capabilities without any code changes. If you are interested, we can collaborate to make this happen. Please let me know -- support at speerio dot net Nik
Hi Nik, I have been looking at NukeHTML for precisely that reason, it is not only handy to have support for tokens etc, but it is really easy to teach portal admins to use tokens. I find the User and Conditional tags very handy. Do you have a copy of MG to
look at? Regards
Nick, I do not have a copy of the module, but I don't think I need it if I could just get the documentation. I'd prefer to just implement the features that way. If you have it, I would appreciate if you could email to support at speerio dot net. Thanks for
the heads up on public.speerio.net. Since it's a public playground, I have to go and periodically play janitor. ;-)
What sort of timeline are you looking at for releasing NukeHTML 3.0 ?? And more importantly - whats the chances of getting MG token support in that build. Have a site that needs to be converted to 3.0 pretty soon after release - and looking at the options -
NukeHTML seems like a good way to go. Westa
The MG tag system was very extensive - with the option inserting tags very heavily used: [DATE|startdate|enddate] inset content here [/DATE] [ROLE|roleid] inset content here [/ROLE] [ISHOST] inset content here [/ISHOST] [ISGUEST] inset content here [/ISGUEST]
[ISUSER] inset content here [/ISUSER] Also the versioning and rollback features - basically an AUTOMATIC snapshot system - that occured everytime and edit was pushed - and recorded the date and user who made the changes. Westa
Nik: I emailed you a copy of the MG documentation for review. Thanks for any help that you can provide in emulating some of the MG functionality in the NukeHTML module. Happy New Year!
I have reviewed the MG features and the ones that aren't already present in NukeEdit are fairly straightforward to implement. I hadn't really planned on writing any code to upgrade NukeEdit or any other module until the official DNN 3.x release was imminent
because it's more work developing/testing against a beta platform (which, by definition, is unstable). Also, so far I have counted about five people interested in a seamless "cross-grade" from MG. It would be helpful to know if there are others interested
in this as it would help justify the investment in development time for adding the features -- email me -- support at speerio dot net.
