Anthony, what is up with your URL? I mean, what makes your URL look different than the standard DotNetNuke url, ie your .content extention and custom page names? - Matt
If you can wait until DNN 3.0 is final, Community Server :: Forums (as well as the Blogs and Galleries parts) from telligent will integrate "flawlessly" with DNN 3.0 Final. They are making/have made modules (not available yet) that will allow this integration
since their MembershipProvider is the same as DNN 3.0 (backported from ASP.NET 2.0 by Microsoft). Having played around with Community Server ::Forums (brought in from ASP.NET Forums that this forum as well as the one at xbox.com run on) and the other parts
(Blog brought in from the author of .Text and Galleries from nGallery author), I can say that it is a very richly featured Forum app if that is what you are looking for.
Matt: The .content extension and custom page names are from our URL rewriting software, which both rewrites the URL and corrects the HTML errors in ASP.NET/DNN to make it validate as HTML 4.0.1 Transitional. I have not released the URL rewriter because I was
waiting to see what DNN 3 would offer, but personally I don't much like the naming style of the DNN3 friendly URLs, so I think I might release it after all. Opinions on whether I should release this component (given that friendly URLs are part of DNN3) are
welcome.
Opinions... we got 'em around here! Here's mine - Anthony, there will be many DNN portals that stay with v2, just as there still are a lot of v1 sites still out there. I, for one, would like to see your friendly URLs solution and learn from it - and perhaps
use it myself! Thanks, Sam Tanner
Anthony, Since we implemented URL rewriting as a provider I would love to see this be the first 3rd party provider. I've got plans for one of my own for some sites that I support. There were some compromises we made in our default rule in DNN 3 to avoid DB
lookups. This may well be revisited later and added to to provide more options for different setup prefrences. Anyway my point is I would love to see your URL rewriter as a DNN 3 Provider. If you want, I'll even help you with it.
