  hi, does anyone know why this can't be done: long x = 1; (int)x; And you have to use convert instead: Convert.Toint32(x); what is happening? thx

  Because the compiler realizes "(int)x;" does nothing, but it does not know that the function Convert.ToInt32(x); does nothing (different). long x = 1; int y = (int)x;
