By the way, members who have been around for a while and have proven themselves to be polite and helpful become unmoderated. They can then post messages that do not pass through moderation, and appear immediately. They are also permitted to edit their own
messages. For such members, the forums are effectively unmoderated. This really gives us the best of both worlds ... the benefits of moderation for all, and the benefits of no moderation for many.
Who decides that the member should be allowed to post unmoderated. I asked the same question in another category but no reply. Thanx
Who decides that the member should be allowed to post unmoderated. Any member of the moderation team. As Justin pointed out, the quirky moderation tool only allows us to flag someone as unmoderated while moderating a new post by the user. And while we
are moderating posts the user's post history does not appear on the screen -- we have to dig in to find it which takes time while the unmoderated posts are mounting. So people are not always unmoderated as quickly as we/they would like. Terri
It's totally unfair because I never post in a moderated forum! So I suppose you think I don't need it then? Okay, fair enough. But, right now for example, it's like I have to censor myself so I don't say anything too outrageous to begin with. Well, I don't
really say anything too bad anyway, but I still wouldn't mind being able to edit myself once in a while. Then I could say truly outrageous things and later on go back and edit certain inflammatory stuff out if a big hullabaloo ensues. I've seen certain other
posters edit their posts in the height of a flame war and I wouldn't mind having this ability. Am I wrong to want what other's have?
Just to address a confusion that is apparent in this thread... Unmoderated members CAN edit their own posts. An "edit post" button will become available adjacent the "post reply" button on each of the member's own messages.
