For anyone concerned about my Catalook issues, please be advised that I was trying to install the Catalook version for DNN 3.0.8 onto DNN 3.0.9. I sent an email to Suzanne and she informed me that there is a new version on the Catalook site specifically for
DNN 3.0.9. I got a response within 15 min. of my email--Wow! thats good support! Ron
Before I ask my question I should just add that I am another user who has had no problem installing CataLook (using the right versions that is *cough*Ron*cough*) and following the documentation. Nina, I was wondering if you knew whether there are plans for
CataLook to support the friendly URLs? I must admit I don't fully understand the affect friendly URLs have on search engine spidering, but I would like to see all of my store content parsed by search engines.
My search for a store is over! All I can say about Catalook is INCREDIBLE! Not only did the product install flawlessly (after I got the proper version) but the functionality for the price is well beyond my expectations. The only shortcoming might be the installation
documentation since it has been translated to English. Even so, the tech support is amazing. I have been working with the install on a Sunday in the US and received 3 replies from Susanne. I have the product running on a test site and I only have about 65
min. invested. It took me longer to get DNN 3.x running! Anyone looking for a DNN store needs to give serious attention to Catalook. Ron Clarke
Will someone Please post some skinning expamples for Catalook. Can normal DNN containers be applied to the product views or does everything have to be done through the .acsx files?
Here's a roughly skinned one http://www.harrieshomes.co.za/Default.aspx - a work in progress - for my mom, so it's always last on the list ;-) This was just done by editing the style sheet - ascx pages not touched. Then, if you change the image buttons - biiiiig
difference. And lastly, like I'm doing for a client, which I can not share unfortunately - if you order things a little differently in the ascx files - va-voom, it's wonderful, looks just like the major shopping cart sites (except for the file manager on the
left, for which I've modified the images, but I'd like to see disappear altogether in future. It has lovely features, but unless the user world changes a lot - just too different from the mainstream). The DNN3 version, I believe, has more built in support
for skinning, but I can't comment on that yet.
Nina! How have you solved the database maintenance issue within Catalook? As I understand, one store owner has the ability to delete other store owners products and categories!! Well, I think I could choose to, not show the catalook store settlings to the portal
owner, but then the portal owner would not have access to documentation layouts as invoices, header and footers. Sounds like moment 22 to me.
1. I checked the catalook site and found all the demo sites they provided loading very slow. Haven't seen any Catalook sites with a decent or clean feel. 2. Haven't read any comment on the code part of Catalook from programmers. The catalook site looks kind
of messy and that just made me worry about the code quality. ? yiyi
The 3.0 version of the KodHedZ store has been delayed so that i can convert it to use the new layouts skinning engine for modules, which i will release to the community later this month. Although the 2.2 version of khz store supports the similar design of layouts,
i decided that centralizing the storage and design / import of the layouts was important to maintain consistency. i apologise for the delays in this new version, and will post demos when it is ready. mark.
