Not normally a shameless self promoter but found myself up late tonight perusing the forums and decided to post this announcement. New Riders publication released a book I've written called "ASP.NET for Web Designers" which is a title I geared toward teaching
ASP.NET in more of a plain English type format. I used metaphors and real life examples to explain the concepts of ASP.NET. So far the reviews have been good so people are finding it helpful. Maybe you will too. You can find it at amazon at the link below.

Hi Peter It certainly is a good book. I teach web development part time at a community college and am preparing my ASP.NET course. I'm giving serious consideration to making your book required reading for those who need a tutorial approach. Very novel! Thanks

Hi, I am a newbie to ASP.NET and am looking for exactly what your book has to offer. I will buy it from Amazon I think, but wondered if I could buy it anywhere else other than Amazon? I just don't want to wait for it :) Thanks saintmak@msn.com
Sorry for the delay in replying, You should be able to pick up a copy of the book at any larger chain physical store such as Barnes and Noble, Borders, Books A Million, etc. Hope you enjoy the book. Peter Ladka
peter- plug away! i just posted a review for your book on amazon and now i found this site! i'm brand new to asp.net /microsoft technology but have been using php/perl for web sites for 7 years. your book was not the first book i read on asp.net but the BEST.
your lack of "fancy programmer big words" was a help beyond words. starting with html server controls was great because that was such a clear contrast to the way typical html is processed by everything else. seeing how a list of radio buttons "knew" which
label went were was mind blowing. having all the examples in vb.net and c# is great for someone like me who hasn't picked a language yet. i'm only on page 250 but i know this is one of the few books i will actually sit down and work out from beginning to end.
when you're ready to write your next book, i have some suggestions... lol! i could use a couple of subjects explained as well as you do! thanks so much for all the hard work you did! leann marcucci
Leann, thanks so much for your kind words. Sorry I'm so slow to reply. Haven't been in the book forum for a few weeks. Hope your continue to enjoy the book Peter
I bought this boook just reading these reviews, to me proved to be a mere hype I was not at all satisfied with the explanations given in the book especially for chapter on state management and authentication.
rip, What in particular where you hoping for. Maybe I could spend sometime clarifying some questions you found were left unanswered for you. Peter Ladka ASP.NET for Web Designers
Hello Peter Ladka, first of all I appreciate the hard work you have put in writing the book. I wasn't very clear about the chapter on Authentication and state management. Also it would have been better if you would have provided some real life example to explain
how forms authentication and session management should be used together to create a web application.
