OK if that is the rule for these forums then I am happy to keep an eye out over there to offer help. Although this one thread is not taking up much bandwidth on the DNN forums. I also think that as a forums module is one of the items lacking with DNN (my view
of course, and I realise that a lot of portals don't want or need forums) and that YAF is probably the best option available (especially for the price!) that it can only help DNN to have information here on how to get it working properly. Happy either way,
but keen to promote it here so that the DNN community helps to drive it's continued integration and development.
I don't think it is a rule - I suggest it because the YAF guys surely know more than you and I about the forum application. At the same time we want to keep some kind of thread going here cos we re looking at it from a DNN integration point of view, so do both?
Personally I love the forum app but I don't agree it is 'lacking' because DNN is more about the framework. YAF is it's own application that plugs into (hopefully seamlessly) that framework. Regards, PS. I think the issue people are having with installing YAF
must be a DB owner thing as you suggested. I would like to replicate the error so can someone having this prob please post the error, server, db etc configuration.
I've had some time to work with this item this evening, taking watch of everything I was doing. Using the instructions included here, the only things I did differently was use the folder name of YetAnotherForum rather than YetAnotherForum.net and instead of
using a separate SQL database just used my existing DotNetNuke database. The install went successful just as it originally had for me. I then tried creating a new tab in the default DotNetNuke portal and adding the forum to it. That worked with no errors at
all. I then tried going to a separate portal I had made, creating a new tab and adding the forum to it. That is when I got the error. Right now it looks like the issue is that the default DotNetNuke forum is the only location you can utilize it from. I will
look for the yetanotherforum forum and make a posting there as well. Just thought I would make a note here since I had originally posted a question here but then got sidetracked by other things and am just now returning to this issue. Ira
If you read through this thread you will see that this is a known issue and there is a workaround that has been detailed a few posts above this one. Check out

Mark, Thanks for the information. I hadn't gotten that far in looking at the message boards when I made my previous post and after that discovered what had been found out since my last working with this matter. I'll give the code a try out when time permits
and until then I'll just use the initial DNN site to work with it. Thanks, Ira
Matt -- simply change "td" into "tr" in first line of theme.css file (located in yetanotherforum/themes/standard/) and your font issues with solpart are gone. Heiko
Boskone - First - thanks for posting your mod to YAF- something I will try out shortly; I did an inspection of your changes - nicely marked/commented. I didn't do more than a cursory "technical" read, but the changes look simple enough and clean enough and
made sense. So - "Nice" job doesn't cut it - "Quality" job (haven't functional tested, but from a coding & style standpoint). "Hack" doesn't cut it - nice enhancement. The structure seems sound. Thanks for sharing your effort, Yarko
Thank you yarko. I am sure there are more enhancments that can be done to it like automatically creating the board when the module is added to a tab as well as autodeletion of same. Someone else suggested to go by tabID instead of portalID. I think it could
also be turned into a PA install. But people with more skill than I have would have to do those.
... yes, or some abstract "yafInstanceID" that's not coupled to where it's placed in DNN (tab or portal - why should YAF, after all, have ANY knowledge of dnn...) - just associated it with unique data tables, which is all that is really important. For example,
may want to "shadow" a forum, so tabID may be a bit.... confusing.... YAF might benefit from "Provider" concept too, for user info for example... if that were broken out beyond an interface, then ... would be easy to use default "YAF" plug, or have DNN guys
write a sort of YAF "provider" for plumbing DNN user info into YAF, without ever touching YAF code. Anyway, useful enhancement Boskone.... thanks again....
Is anyone working on a script to migrate/convert phpBB to YAF? I started on this last night, but it's proving to be a real bear. Would be real spiffy if someone more talented than myself was working on it.
