Thanks for the URLScan tip - that would have caught me out on my production server! To workaround the owner issues for the tables and stored procedures I changed my MSDE security to SQL Server and Windows, then I removed all of the tables and stored procedures
and re-installed YAF using the sa account and password for the YAF connection string. I then changed my security back to Windows only and set my connection string back to a trusted connection - everything works fine now. Obviously, the DNN installer does not
have this owner issue, I think the YAF team could look into the differences to fix the problem. If you already have an active forum with the owner problem, you may be able to use the sp_changeobjectowner stored procedure on each object to correct the problem
- I haven't tried this myself. I am close to finishing a News module for YAF under DotNetNuke. The module can be installed on a different tab to YAF and will display all of YAF's announcements as news items. The news module has a date separator to group items
by date and displays topic title as news title, number of comments with link to thread in YAF, posted by, time, forum and the message.
News module sounds interesting & good catch about URLScan. I didn't use yetanotherforum.net as the folder name for a reason but I couldn't remember what that reason was! Now if your News module also generated an RSS file... Regards
Hi, I think I followed everything but am getting the following error: A critical error has occurred. Failed to load /dotnetnuke/desktopmodules/yetanotherforum.net/pages/forum.ascx. Can anybody help? Thanks
If you can provide more details on your setup (XP or 2003, SQL Server or MSDE, local or hosted, etc) and configuration that would be helpful. People have had problems with the dot "." in the name thanks to URL scan, etc. Try reinstalling without that in the
folder name (I need to change the instructions to reflect this and make them available somewhere). Make sure that the and settings in the web.config are correct (they have to relate to your virtual directory rather than the actual path so check that your virtual
directory is called dotnetnuke. Hope that helps.
Hey everyone, I am one of the developers (not too active right now) for YAF. If you have any errors with installing it or running it, please report them in the YAF forum. The address to the forum is http://forum.yetanotherforum.net This forum is still in the
late beta stages, but you have to remember also, the product as of 3 releases ago did not even support DNN or Rainbow. Thanks

I am running a WinXP Pro machine with MSDE. I have dnn installed by the default install instructions and I have used your instructions to install yet another forum. I have used the specific directories you suggest including creating a separate database. The
install seemed to go well, not a single error or glitch that I noticed. When I go to add the forums on one of my dnn pages though I get this messgae: A critical error has occurred. The virtual path '/dotnetnuke/desktopmodules/yetanotherforum.net/pages/forum.ascx'
maps to another application, which is not allowed. I'm rather new to dnn and so the message has me confused, not paniced. For the moment I simply removed the 'module' from the dnn page and will continue working on the rest of my setup until I hear from you.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks, Ira P.S. The instructions are great and I really appreciate them.
johndoe - I think I know what that is, let me test it first and I'll post back. Ira - try changing the folder name to something like yetanotherforum (leave off the .net which may be fooling IIS). Also change this name in web.config and try again. Regards,
