I know this is an old subject. I am having the "Operation must use an updateable query" error. The ASP.NET app is just a simple guestbook app. It can be read no problem. Works on my laptop. Works on the hosting site with their windows 2000 server. I continue
to get the error with same hosting company on their server with Windows 2003 server. They have told me several times that all the permissions are set correctly. Is there a difference in the way I need to update the MS Access database on a Windows 2003 server???

Actually, I also have the problem like you. And i have found the solution in here. This is the solution: Right click on the directory where your database is - choose properties - Then the security tab - then click on permissions. Add the ASPNet user to the
shared section Then, make sure it has 'Change' rights - Click Apply and you should be working fine then.
