Hi everybody, You may find it interesting but OmniPortal can now use Rainbow Modules, even though it is not an IBS Portal type software. There will be a white paper up soon on the SF site on how to do this converstion. OmniPortal was built from the ground up
so there is no legacy code from IBS or CSK. Many of you will enjoy what OmniPortal offers, because not only does it provide a light-weight framework that is used through the use of plug-ins for everything from authentication, modules, portlets, skins, themes,
and much more. Since it is a generic framework the sky is the limit to what it can provide, and you are not limited to a specific layout as you can see on the http://www.omniportal.net website links below the first page are on a different lay out. This release
makes the DAL more generic for later support of more databases. Not many features have changed but performance has increased because of a new caching technique I am using, in addition to using an OmniPortalDataSet which is the primary Data Layer for all Data
Access. No more stored procedures are being used. Future planed databases are MySQL, Access, and XML including the currently supported MS SQL 2000. 10/26/2003 – 0.4 Beta – Build 118 + Added support for ADO.Net way of DAL. This is an important feature for the
next release of MySQL, Access, XML, and MS SQL Database support. * Fixed some minor issues from previous release. * [764017] Support added to database to add users to database. * [811405] Fixed bread crumb algorithm. * [813281] Caching problem fixed, which
was not finding the correct URL for the RSS Feed. - Removed support for Stored Procedures because many of the future databases that OmniPortal will support can't use Stored Procedures. * Performance has been improved with removal of Stored Procedures and a
better caching system. You can find a copy at http://www.omniportal.net to download.
