Please help me. I am not getting the User or create IIS virtual root in the 'start web application' window. I downloaded webmatrix on to drive...??!#@#$##! I am basically using the guided tour to teach my self about asp.net. Why can't I create an aspx file
and save onto my server? I get the invalid folder error. and asp web matrix server port 8080 is not available (busy or in use error) any suggestions? THANK YOU!
Well i never used Web Matrix so im gonna try and see if i can gain more light on your issue... What Edition of XP do you use? Home/Pro Do you have IIS installed if your running pro? Do you have Front Page 2000 ServerExtentions installed in IIS? (i know VS.NET
at least requires this.) What port is IIS running on? That should allow me or someone more adept in Web Matrix to help you.

Thank you for your response. I am using home ed. of Windows XP I don't know if I have frontpage serverextensions installed in IIS or not ... how do I complete that task? nor do I know the port? Thank you so much for your assistance.
Unfortunately IIS can't be installed to WinXP Home edition. It is in XP Pro version only. However, you can install the Cassini Web Server (see Source Projects tab at the top) if upgrading to Pro isn't an option.
I know that one but if you have server cd why install xp, though in trial case somehow understandable. Hack is a hack. ;-) Also Cassini is included with web matrix so user is kind of shielded from installing the IIS if it's not necessary.
Click on Source Projects tab (above) and you'll see you can download Cassini Sample Web Server. So my question was just about overwriting install files. But again. That's just For My Info, as I prefer IIS.

quote Bill2clone What happens if I install Cassini, and then install WebMatrix?
I don't remember Cassini being a separate product from WebMatrix.
