    Hi All,

Any ideas on how to use flash animations in the Adrotator control? I created some nifty banner ads with swish, and want to put them into the CSK without too much pain!

Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

The default adrotator control doesn't support Flash, just .gif and .jpeg.

Isn't it a pity that .NET doesn't have a ContentRotator object like the classic ASP had...

I dont know really why it would be a pitty. I suppose microsoft figures that with the current power of the .NET Framework and the addition of ASP.NET server side controls that you could create any type of control that you wanted.

Another way to do this would be to use animated .gifs
I use Image Ready (comes with Adobe Photoshop). as a 'poor relation' alternative to flash, then switch between after flash detection (source on www.macromedia.com). If you really want to use flash, consider writing code that puts the flash object into a placeholder. Then write a piece of randomiser code that reflected the impressions entry in the xml file.

With an increasing number of Ads being created with flash it is a pity that Microsoft didn't come out with a better adrotator. Oh well, I shouldn't complain... because everything else about .NET is on point.

There is a control called FlashAdRotator and does exactly what you want. You can try it and buy it at http://www.echinos.com. It only costs $20.
