I just posted an article on "How to Maintain Scroll Position in a DIV" to my column on AspAlliance. If you are using a scrollable DIV to add scrollbars to a datagrid, datalist, etc, then this will show you how to retain that scroll position across postbacks.
Hello Jim, i´m sorry but i get an "An error occurred in processing your request. " if i want to see the demo of your article. It wold be very nice if you can fix it... Thanks in advance...
Hi Karsten, Sorry. I had a "senior moment" when I uploaded an update to it and broke it. It is fixed now and the demo should come up fine:
Scroll Position Demo
hey Jim, ive been trying your demo program using netscape 7.02 (mac/PC) and IE in mac and pc, doesnt seem to work,. the scroll position is ot retained,... u know whats the issue is??? this capability will be really usefull if it works... thanks -Gerald
It was written using an HTC -- web behavior file. You could no doubt pull the javascripts out of the htc and retrofit them into a page for Netscape or the Mac. I work in a corporate environment where we have standardized on IE 5.5 or above. It has helped us
make a quantum leap in the kind of functionality we can supply our users (intranet users). Not only does IE give us a richer set of tools to work with, but when we don't have to worry about cross-browser issues it's a huge time savings. Sorry it won't work
for you. I think I warned about the "htc" (behavior) file use in the article though.
Jim... You did indeed warn about the HTC file in the article. Fortunately, we are also in the same position you are in, in that we're standardized on IE 5.5. :) I just wanted to post and thank you for the article. We'd been searching a while for a solution
like this. We've started using it already and it works great. Thanks again for article and I look forward to more articles from you in the future. Bryan
