  From what I've read, it seems that consuming a webservice over https isn't supported. Has anyone been able to do this?

  Sure, it works just like using normal http, no tricks involved afaik.

  Yes, You can consume the ws on http. There is a simple ruf draft on that at http://www.w3coder.com/ws/WSHeaderwithVBorASP.htm That helps you more, in that I created a web service in .Net and I consumed in asp using HTTP technique. Hope this gives some clear answers to you!

  [off topic] cheers for the tutorial on connecting a webservice in ASP! just what i was looking for! [sadly not all my sites are .NET enabled]

  how to use ssl connection on win application(C#winform) than consume a web service.....????

  IF you want to use SSL, keep your web service or host your WS on https, then consume it in your client. There is a very good article on msdn, check that at below link.
