I have a machine onto which I installed the dotnet framework and VS.Net. One fine day out of the blue I started getting error messages about registry access when doing a dataset fill. I modified the permissions on the data access key for ASPNET user and it
went away. This caused my ASP 3 pages to fail on data access. Next the data validators stopped working. I think there is registry corruption here but I dont know for sure. What is the best way to start over - Do I have to go to the extent of reinstalling the
OS, because reinstalling the .Net Framework doesnt help. I would appreciate some help here Thanks in advance
Hi, I'm curious what specific symptoms you are seeing. When you say the data validators stopped working, what exactly is happening? And how did you modify the permissions of the ASPNET user? If you're really interested in starting over, you shouldn't have to
re-install the OS. Uninstalling/re-installing either the framework (or for design-time problems Visual Studio) should be enough to start over (of course, this is assuming there isn't some other external problem, which an OS re-install would most certainly
fix, but would still probably be overkill). The types of errors may help determine the source of the problems and how best to "start over." John
