after successfully installing the RTM on top of the
RC, (vs2010; win web server 2008 R2)
i get this message after selecting the ASP.NET MVC 4
internet application template and clicking okay:
Package Installation Error
The "repository" attribute of the
package element has an invalid
value: 'registry'. Valid values are: 'template' or 'extension'.

I guess your use of an italicised font for the word "successfully" is to illustrate irony?
I seem to recall that the advice was NOT to install on top of the RC or any betas. I installed on a clean machine (no beta versions or RC ever installed) and have no issues with creating an MVC 4 project based on the Internet Application template.
Hi Mike .... whatever it is; it appears to be random and i hope it's not coming back to haunt me.

FWIW, i think that your method, whenever possible, is a "best practice".

You canupgrade the
ASP.NET MVC 4Beta and
Release Candidate to ASP.NET MVC 4 without uninstalling.

I fixed this error by upgrading NuGet. The attributes and elements it talks about are part of a newer NuGet schema.
