  hosting asmx service in iis

  hi all,

  I have a web service in asp.net .net framework 4.0 i have published it on iis 7 and my application pool is classic.net.I am getting following error:-

  HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found

  The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler.

  Please help

  seems like asp.net isn't installed properly over IIS

  Please kindly ask your provider to check that .net has been setup properly to your site. :)

  there are 2 things that you can try :

  1. reinstall asp.net 4.0 using the command line :
     aspnet_regiis -iru
  2. open your IIS -> go to root level -> ISAPI CGI and Restriction -> ASP.NET v4.0.30319 -> set to ALLOW
