Activation key not working for VS 2010 ultimate trial version

Hi,
I have installed VS 2010 ultimate trial version and got the activation key to activate it but on using the key
I get an error message saying "This product key cannot be used to extend the use of this product".
What can be the problem?Please help.

Thanks for the reply but I havn't received any toll free number to call.Ths seems to be a known issue in VS 2010

The link provided works only for products which have PID number.In my case if I can't open VS 2010 then how can I
obtain the PID number.

You can obtain this from the registry:
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0_Config\Registration\

Under Registration,there are many versions of PID. Should i select the last one,that being the newest?

It can't hurt. I would print off that entire registry key just to ensure you have it when you call/email support.
