I am finding that I like Reporting Services but using the designer has some quirks that really bother me. I tried looking for reference manuals on the designer but I am not having luck. Something that can walk you through the screens and show you what
the results can be. Does anyone know of some good resource book(s) or online sites that specifically deal with the report designer and all the screens you can get into?
Some of the things I am trying to find:
1) In a matrix report, when you select subtotals, how can you format the output? It totals the field like I expect but how can I make bold? Make negative numbers red? Add a line above the totals?
2) Matrix report, having two rows of subtotals - one for sums and one for counts?
3) Can I center a matrix report in the final output?
4) Can you modify bevel appearance of charts?
It's all nitpicky stuff I know but not easy to find answers. Anybody find anything good out there that I have not found yet?
Most of it you'll probably be able to figure out by playing around with it and google'ing The font color can be set on the properties as an expression, for example I bought Wrox, Professional SQL serVer reporting services and thought it was pretty good to get
me going

Explains why I couldn't find a book. I was looking for ReportViewer as primary search term and not SQL. Flipped through the book and it looks like what I need. Thanks.
I found making changes in expressions but in the case of subtotals, it only changes in that field. The greyed out fields where the sumations are actually performed do not give me any properties dialog. Change the cell for "Total", put in by the SubTotal
property, will only change that cell. So I am basically formatting the word total all kinds of ways but the sums under each column remain plain text.
Hopefully that book will help me find something I am missing.
