I just spent a lot of time creating a new thread. I'm desperate for an answer and detailed my problem fairly well.
After submitting my post, it showed up in the list of threads from 'Unknown'. In a minute or so, it showed up as from 'rwkiii'. I made an edit to that post to submit more information. Once I resubmitted it, again, it showed up as by 'Unknown'. In a few minutes
it again showed up as by 'rwkiii'. I'm thinking, maybe this is correct behavior while the moderators are reviewing my post before making it public. Though, no other posts show up this way...
At this point, my thread shows up as by 'Unknown' and that's not changing. When I click on it there is no post. Nothing to read at all.
I can see at the top right of my screen that I'm logged in as rwkiii. I didn't actually log in, somehow the site remembered me - even though I NEVER have IE save my passwords, EVER.
Also, as a result of that post, I can see that I went from a 10 point member to an 8 point member.
Still, my post is not readable at all. What gives???
If so, one of the actions that can trigger the post being put into the moderation queue is multiple edits. That post features a lot of edits, and ended up in the moderation queue twice.
If you are one of those people who often finds they need to edit posts to correct typos etc, you would be better off drafting in notepad or similar prior to posting. That reduces the number of potential edits and therefore the possibility of your post being
sidelined into moderation.
Well Mike, as you can see by my post, there was nothing to be suspicious about. Unless you're talking about
'a lot of edits' - there were only 2. Multiple edits, I can live with, a lot? No, 2 isn't a lot. 1 edit would be single. 2 edits would be multiple. You should redefine 'a lot'.
In the future I'll remember not to add followup details to a thread/post I've made. I don't want to be
'one of those people' you refer to.
Really kind of disappointed that you've had so much time to manage the measly 2 threads I've posted and yet my original post remains unanswered. Im sorry to have alarmed you. Happy I could help keep you busy today.
I'm sorry that your first experiences on the site have been so frustrating.

Unless you're talking about 'a lot of edits' - there were only 2.
The thread Mike mentioned had 7 edits to it.

In the future I'll remember not to add followup details to a thread/post I've made.
It can be better to do this via a followup post rather than in the body of the original thread, as adding details after site members have read the post can be confusing and the additional details can be overlooked. I have also noticed that you have piggybacked
an additional question onto your original thread. It's better to start a new thread with a new subject which pertains to the new question.

The routing to the moderation queue happens programmatically. It's the approval from there that requires a moderator to review, and Mike wasn't the person who moderated either time.

Unless you explicitly log out, Windows Live ID maintains an authentication cookie so you will still be logged in when you return to the site.

This is an unfortunate bug which is still pending a fix. The fix should appear on the site in the coming weeks.
Hi tmorton. I don't mean to kick this into the ground, but felt a need to reply to a couple of things you mentioned.
1) There were only 2 edits. They are both tagged with the word "EDIT" at the bottom. There weren't 7, but if your system is telling you that then you might have a bug someplace. There were only 2. Those edits came about because after rereading my post I
saw that there was something I wasn't clear about and it could have made a difference in getting an answer or not. If you have a way of looking at detailed log I'm sure you will see that I only editted twice.
2) I understand how a post can get confusing if it's being edited after people are reading it. Point well taken, but I hope you can understand that the post was only a couple of minutes old when I edited it. My position was to correct my post before everyone
had read it. Being only a few minutes old, I had been the only one who had read it at that point so I didn't confuse anyone. ;)
3) I replied to my post (rather than editing it a third time) because I had additional information that changed my original question. The reply to my post was appropriate and had everything to do with the original thread. I see no reason to post a seperate
thread. I think that would have been completely incorrect. I didn't want to see anyone spending any time documenting possible solutions to 2 errors I was getting that were a result of my class being placed in the App_Code folder. My reply was directly related
to my original post and was appropriate to be included in the same thread.
In conclusion, I was just disappointed that my original thread was invisible to me for no explanation. You say it was because there were 7 edits, but that is wrong. There were only 2 and I still don't think my post should have been treated in that way for
just 2 edits. I spent a lot of time documenting my problem in that thread, and when it disappeared I wrote a message to the moderators. That post also disappeared and when I tried to find it by the link you emailed me, it wasn't visible either. Finally, Mike
seemed to want to stereotype me as an indescisive person or someone who falls short of having their thoughts in order. I think my post shows otherwise. I'm not taking a big offense to anything that happened. I appreciate your time in dealing with this silly
situation. Just thought it might help you all there to see things as they appear from my eyes.
Thank you. ;)
PS: As a sidenote, I have popups blocked and every time I click on one of the toolbar buttons here I am warned that your popups get blocked. When I temporarily allow your popups your site completely erases everything I've typed. I've learned to copy my message
to the clipboard before clicking your toolbar buttons, but I think your programmers could do better - if they knew about this problem. Maybe this has something to do with your count of 7 edits? :P
If you have a way of looking at detailed log I'm sure you will see that I only editted twice.
We do have a log. It contains datetime stamps each time your browser posts through the edit screen. There are 7 edits logged so your browser posted 7 times via the edit screen. After the first 4 edits your post ended up in the moderation queue where it
was quickly re-approved. After the next 3 edits, it landed in the moderation queue again as was also reapproved shortly thereafter. Those edits were logged both seconds apart as well as minutes apart.

Unfortunately, the site logs do show the 7 edits that were mentioned and a series of edits in a short sequence to a single thread (such as occurred with your thread) will ultimately cause it to get flagged for moderation review.
Also nobody has suggested that you're indecisive. On some forums, it seems that folks try to be first on the scene with their posts and then they flush them out with edits to add details. That's not recommended here. We recommend using the edit feature
to correct minor typograhpical errors. Do keep in mind that the original post was already emailed out to all forum subscribers in it's original form.

Hard to say what exactly you're running into or what your browser is doing when your browser blocks your actions. As we're all web developers here, we know that this site itself is receiving nothing more than POST and GET.
2 edits. 2 is all. Now I don't care what your logs are saying - they are wrong. Plain and simple, they are wrong. Rather than you trying to understand how you are showing 7 edits, you are dropping the bomb on me.
Look, just forget it. I've never been dealt with online like this. Let's just put it behind us. You'd think your software could count to 2 as well as I can, but it's failed. If you have these logs why don't you tell me what changed on all 7 of these edits?
Also, 4 edits within seconds? Maybe those were refresh while I was trying to figure out why my username was showing up as "Unknown" on the post? 4 edits and seconds apart? I'm really fast, aren't I?
2 edits.
I'm starting to think the writing is on the wall here. I think I settled into the wrong place to be looking for help. You're starting to tick me off.

Do you mean the post at Unable to Override Properties in BaseMasterPage Class?
