This site is I have to say is brilliant but now and again people jump in to answer questions without actually reading the question. Maybe even better, a way to delete someone’s answer all together, so it is left open again for others to answer and the post
doesn’t end up three… pages long?
if the answer's a complete way off then you can alert the moderation team. However just starting to delete out answers might discourage people to contribute. In the end it's the responsibility of the OP to start marking correct answer(s) in the thread in
the end. Thanks to the update the marked answers looks way more clear and easy to find in a thread.

stackoverflow.com is in many ways an excellent resource; nevertheless, it has some features that i hope forums.asp.net
never adopts.
imho, the down vote feature of stackoverflow is frequently extremely unfriendly, as is stackoverflow's allowing for all intents and purposes
almost anyone to moderate.
forums.asp.net's moderators and i may not always agree, yet, most of the time, they are fair and do not gang up on forums.asp.net community members.
FWIW, when a member at forums.asp.net misreads a question, usually other members will point that out ... if all fails, the O.P. will report that her/his question has been misinterpreted.
one more point: at stackoverflow, even the O.P. can get down voted ... imho, this practice discourages novices from coming forward and requested help.

B-) Please help me by completing my school survey about computer programmers on my website. Thank you!!! Gerry Lowry +1 705-429-7550 wasaga beach, ontario, canada
Thanks Gerry, I can always use a laugh and I feel your pain! I tried to vote you up but I have a reputation of 1, I was locked out for 24 hours recently for suggesting something similar to your post and lost all my reputation, now can’t be bothered!
I have quite good “Reputation” on Stackoverflow and I thought, well I was told that I could vent these types of issues on meta.stackoverflow, but I was miss informed I guess. I have also never ganged up to shut down a post, I was actually told in one post
while being voted down that SO is “not a forum” and I shouldn’t do what I had done, I still have no idea what I did. That said, there are a lot of great people on SO but there are also a lot of, and without a better word, tools! Now I just play their game
and hope the nice people see my question before the vultures! I actually time my questions by time zone!
Back to my post, it was not my intention to have it moved to “Feedback on this site”, I put it in the “free for all”, just as a discussion point. I’m not sure as to your programming preferences but for me, I have to deal with more than just MS tech, so I
often have to turn to SO. And I have to say it’s always a breath of fresh air when I return to .NET and get to come back here!
So let’s just leave this site as is, it was the first site I came across with a points system, it’s where the real pros hang out and if I get frustrated with some people I will just deal with it.
Thanks guys,
Mike.
Also Gerry, I will get some reputation back on meta.SO and vote you up!

Hi,
This site is I have to say is brilliant but now and again people jump in to answer questions without actually reading the question. Maybe even better, a way to delete someone’s answer all together, so it is left open again for others to answer and the post doesn’t end up three… pages long?
Just a thought!
Cheers,
Mike.
