I'm trying to test a web service which takes 4 parameters, one of which is a datetime. When I invoke the web service using its url in the browser, I see the listing of services available. When I click the one I'm trying to test, it tells me that "This test
form is only available for methods with primitive types as parameters." So it looks like you can't pass a date in via the url - can someone please confirm this is true?If so then I will have to write a quick test app to call the service.
Another question: one of the 4 parameters is optional. Can I just leave it out, or do I need to specifiy it and how would I pass a null value?

Yes, you can not test non primitive types from the test browser, you probably would need to write some custom code test it out
or create a webservice test

Thanks for confirming about the datetime. I created a webservice test app that works great. We are actually going to use it for many more of our web services so it was time well spent.
