I am looking at writing a starter site for people to learn, contribute and expand - plus make it open source via CodePlex. I am looking at using elements of the Gallery kit and the Security model from the Starter site to build a 'school/education' website.
I work in this sector and I know alot of people that would be interested in getting involved with coding - but are lost to where to start..
I would be interested to get some feedback for ideas (keep them basic if possible) - and interested to see how I can tie the idea/product into the educational resources that are available through Microsoft?
Cheers!
Dont forget to Mark as Answer if it has solved your problem!
That would be great and I'd be happy to help answer questions you have. Beyond it being targeted at a "school/education" website, what in particular are you think the site would have in it?
I used to be one of the project managers for the Open-School project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-open-school/) however the website was written with sloppy PHP from the other developers
and it just fell apart really, people are still using it.
More or less it would have a CMS component (front end), a gallery component, pages that can be populated (ie. about the school, subjects), contact form, a login area (intranet) where staff or student bulletins could go. I have heaps of ideas however I think
with the things I have mentioned I would already have my work cut out for me :)
I think that it would provide a nice variety of some of the basic functionality that can be done with Razor - I liked back in the day when I first downloaded Visual Web Developer you could download the Starter Kit and the Club Starter Kit, the community then
expanded it with tutorials.. That was part of what is driving me to do this.
All I need is a design....
Let me know what you think! :)

Hi,
I've actually spent a good bit of time on working on a "School" style site using WebPages/Razor that might help you.
I'll send you a private message to continue the discussion.
Thanks,
Mark
