asp.net all of these writers have a good reputation. I like bigger books so I will probably choose professional asp.net wrox I have also greatly enjoyed matthew mcdonald
My favorite beginning sql book is beginning sql server express for developers
robin dewson.(apress) One of my chief complaints about most beginning sql books are they do not show how you can generate a simple sql table this book shows three ways in sql management studio on how to create a simple table. It than explains on how
to create views andt-sql(stored procedures) By the way you use stored procedures to create entity framework
what I did not like : how to create roles schemas in sql mgmt studio he really made this too confusing. I wish he would have covered sql membership, profiles, windows authorization etc
I really felt this book was very good
other books
a good t-sql book looks like michael coles book apress
Beginning ASP.NET 4.0 in C# and VB by Imar Spanjaaras is great! Very easy to follow and fun to read. You build a website throughout the book and when you are done with it you got a great example page that you can use as a guide when you start building your
own sites. 6/6
I have both books to review - both do cover data access.

Is there a good book for beginners using Visual Studio 2010 for ASP.net 4?
I would also like a book that has beginner information on sql. If all of that is in one book then great!
Thanks

Hi,
You can try "Introduction to .NET 4.0" from APress publication which gives an overview of .NET .4.0 including ASP.NET.
For the book on SQL Server you can refer to SQL 2005 book from murach publications.
Thanks,

If using C#, get ISBN 978-1-4302-2608-6 http://www.apress.com/book/view/1430226080
If using VB.NET, get ISBN 978-1-4302-2511-9 http://www.apress.com/book/view/1430225114
