I am new at web development. I am nearing completion of my first web site that I need to move to a hosting site. Not knowing any better I just started with the latest tools and used Visual Studio 2010 and targeted ASP.NET 4.0 and used MS SQL. I didn't realize
that a lot of hosting sites wouldnt be able to support this configuration. And those that do seem to be a bit more expensive than for say MySQL and PHP. Oh well I live and learn I guess.
In any case I only have 1 database, the size will probably never get bigger than 25mb.
Currently the size of my entire website including the database is less than 15mb. But I still want to add a few small video. So I dont need a lot of storage. I would not need more than 50 email accounts. And the volume would not be very high. I would want
to be able to play videos. This would be considered a lightly used website. My #1 concern is I want to make sure when users do try to go to my website that it responds well and I dont want to have to be concerned that the hosting company will go out of business
anytime soon. Oh and my budget needs to be around $500 per year.
I would totally recommend looking at winhost.com. They just started supporting ASP.NET 4 & all their accounts come with a MS SQL database so it should have everything you need.
think their basic plan starts at $4.95 a month which is pretty reasonable if you ask me.
Infosaic.com supports ASP.NET with all packages. The basic hosting package starts at $60/year. If you go to
www.infosaic.com, you can at least check out the information. You could try using SQL Express which is included with any hosting package of ours and any other Windows host would support the Express version of SQL too! That
would keep your initial cost even lower and it should work for you. There are other companies which would also support ASP.NET and you don't have to spend at lot to get started. Check out codango.com for more options!

I think you'll find a lot of good and bad at most all hosts. You just have to try a few (maybe many) before you know which one you'll like. I'd stay away from hosts offering SQL Express as they do not suppose to under Microsoft licensing. Also many recommendations you'll
get like a couple in this topic are from employees of the company they are recommending so they're not very good judges... Good Luck In your Search!
FunnyDawg is absolutely correct, Microsoft has specifically said that shared hosts are not to use SQL Express as it is not permitted under the Microsoft licensing terms. You can view the document on that
here
Their hosting plans look good, but is there an option to get more bandwidth?
What if site needs more than 100GB per month, as offered in WinHost Max package? Do they offer some scalable solution?
I tested them out a month or two ago (figured $4.95/mo wasn't that bad for a test), and was very pleasently surprised.
I do believe there is one more plan that isn't listed on the site in case you go over the Max plan, only because I saw something about it in their community forums
here

$500 is too much for a starter website
just try
winhost.com
softsyshosting.com
arvixe.com
you would just spend $ 120 max...later depends on your site hit.

Has anyone heard of BizHostNet? I am trying to compare their features to WinHost.com
Their link is http://www.bizhostnet.com/compare-windows-2008-plans.html
I was just curious if anyone knows any good or bad things about either one?

Hi,
do you use winhost.com?

Better Paging. Fast page loads. More visits from search engines
