Hi well I'm not exactly a pro with ASP.NET but if you are running XP or 2000 with NTFS rather than FAT32 etc to change your permissions you need to right click on the folder that contains your database in Windows explorer and click on Properties, then go into the Security tab at the top.

You then need to add the user called ASPNET and give it Full Control. The files in the folder *should* inherit the same permissions and that should solve your problems..

I had other problems too, but that was due to some of the names of my fields, they appear to be reserved so in my Select statement I changed some of them from TableName.FieldName to TableName.[FieldName] and this sorted it for me.

Let me know if this helps because I know how frustrating it can be!

Ouch, Full Control is not needed. Read/Write is enough.

Well I know.... :-) but I was trying to make it easy for him. I was under the impression that it was actually the "Change" permission that was needed..?

If being that strict, it is Read/Write/Execute. ;-)

    Hi,

I'm having the same probolem as all of the above and it seems it should be fixable. However, I am updgrading as asp intranet to asp.net. I will send the client (my previous employer) the completed pages in an installer to make sure the pages get put in the correct directories.

Can I script using winbatch, the changing of security permissions of the folder that contains the mdb?

The problem I was having was that the mdb file was in a folder that was not shared. Simply share the folder with full permissions by right clicking and going to sharing and security.

    Worked for me

Only think I did is right click on the folder (containing the Access database [.mdb file]),

Step1: Right click on the Folder
Step2: Go to Sharing and Security
    Step3: Go to Sharing Tab.
Step4: Check in Allow Network Users....... and Share this folder......
    Step5: Go to WebSharing
    Step6: Select Web Sharing
Step7: Select Execute(including scripts) in Application Permissions
