I just installed Oracle 10G Express Edition. Installation was successful, when I tried to connect the database using
Scott/tiger or hr/hr it does not Connect and throwing an exception :
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
How can I get rid of this error to connect to the database.
I am using Windows Vista 64 Bit OS....

How about using ORAdba login? You should put @your_DB_tnsnames!

Thanks for your reply. I went over those files but could not find whats need to be fixed. I would really appreciate if you could let me know whats need to be done to fix it.

Unless I connect, how can I run any queries ?.... I just installed it, I am unable to execute any commands even.... any help ?

do you use Sql plus? How many Oracle Homes there? Please check your TNSNAMES.ORA within
and try to put your machine IP directly there
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = the_ip)(PORT = 1521))
(SERVICE_NAME = xe)
also make sure the Port is right
