I have installed VS2008 SP1 (Team System), then VS2005 SP2 (Team Ed.), VS2003 SP2, VS2010 Pro Beta2
(in this order).
VS2003 was installed since VS2005 did not permit to work with .NET1.x.
And I need to develop app compatible with 1.x
I want to uninstall something due to lack of disk space on system hard disk.
?? VS2008 permits to do everything that VS2005, does not it?
But neither of them works with .NET1.x
So, I want to uninstall VS2005 leaving VS2003.
Though I have some plugins like Resharper for VS2005
(I did not check if it, which and how works in VS2008).
Also, I have VS2005 Power Toys and I do not see the analogous PowerToys for VS2008.
?? Does it exist?
Any ideas why should not I uninstall VS2005?
One of the question is that I see that my Windows XP Pro SP3 is continuously getting a lot of updates for VS2005.
?? So, the question why is someone using VS2005 but not VS2008?
?? Why is not VS2005 discontinued? ?? Why do people continue using VS2005?
?? How to better uninstall without breaking anything?
The reason people continue using VS2005 is they paid for it and don't want to pay to upgrade to VS2008. This is typical in large companies.
If I were going to install both, I would install VS2003 and then VS2008. I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS, but here is what I would recommend. Uninstall VS2005 (not any of the .NET frameworks or service packs). Repair your VS2003 install. Repair your VS2008 install.
That will be as close as possible to just installing VS2003 and then VS2008. Again, I have NOT tested this, and will not test it due to the time involved. :)

In my exp even small companies get the MSDN subsription receiving new releases for the same price or very small incremental charge.
This is much cheaper.
Though, I am probably wrong and should change this record in my memory(?)

You frightened me to death.
I shall NOT uninstall anything if it requires repairing 2-3 VSs
and probably all related installs!

VS2008 can do everything 2005 can do.
VS2008 PowerCommands, the equivalent of VS2005 PowerTOys:
