    Hi everybody,

I used to use IE8 as my default browser. Convinced by many people to switch to FF I'm trying to use FF from yesterday, but I found, that many sites showing "Loading" in the tab (and often) while they open without delay in IE.

Also, I was trying to post a message in FF for several minutes and it was not responding. I gave up, saved this message to clipboard, re-loaded the thread and pressed Post - it also was not giving me an instant response. So, I opened the forum in IE and found my post now.

So, is this site better browsed with IE or something is not quite right here with my FF (I use 3.5.4 version). I'm using AVG here as Antivirus program (upgraded yesterday to AVG 9).

I rarely use IE on this site (only use it when checking that things are working cross-browser).  I use Chrome 3.0.195.32 primarily, and Firefox 3.5.4

Since you are seeing this behavior on other sites besides ASP.NET, I'd say there is an issue with your install.

I'm seeing the moving circle for several sites in the tabs and some just show the site logos.

I use all 5 browsers to design my site: IE, FF, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. I tried to achieve the result, that my site looks exactly identical in all 5. It took a little more time and some frustration, but at the end - any of my pages looks absolutely the same in any browser.

IE8 is designed to be more Standards compliant, so my life become a little easier. Because it renders to the browser almost the same as Chrome and FF (altough there are major differences) - unlike IE7, which rendered totally different.

Based on my statistics, majority of visitors use IE - 83%, but my site is mostly targeted for the US market. 17% use all remaining browsers. Opera visitors come mostly from Europe, I guess it's popular there.

I think Google Chrome is the fastest browser than any other, especially when it comes to photos and video, but IE is faster to display dynamic data and ajax applications, when the page is already loaded, than all the rest. Also, what I like about google chrome: the tabs are working independently from each other. If one of the tabs "hanged" or frozen, you can easily continue working in another tab, without loosing anything. In IE, if 1 tab got frozen - you have to close the entire browser. Yesterday I was writing in a thread and wanted to open another tab to copy a link and this other tab got frozen, so I had to restart the whole browser and lost everything, that I was writing - that wouldn't happen in Chrome.

FF is definitely more secure than IE, but since I use the top of the line Norton Internet Security - I don't really care abt FF, because it became slower lately, because it constantly looks for updates or some gadgets. FF was more advanced than IE7, but I don't see it  be any better than IE8.

You might have better luck with that on the FF forums.  What Add-ins are you running? It sound like most of the stubles are related to scripting or something.  Have to installed the Flash player add-in?

When I use Firefox on my laptop using a USB radio modem, I get it sometimes, but when connected to my LAN at home, page load is very fast and never any moving circle effect.

I use Verizon DSN at home - but many websites show moving circle. I posted this question on FF forum (thanks, Terri). Say, this page http://blogs.lessthandot.com/index.php/DataMgmt/DBAdmin/MSSQLServerAdmin/sql-server-2008-r2-editions-pricing-anno shows moving circle or this one http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/transactsql/thread/44b5c8a0-3c9d-430c-8965-e92a7bdcff19 though they are completely loaded -why would they show the circle? I don't think I have the same problem with IE. I liked Igor's answer - may be I need to try google Chrome. Also, regarding FireFox - I imported my bookmarks, etc. - but when I try typing in the address bar, not all the sites come up as they do in IE and also IE bookmarks became "From Internet Explorer" and they are not organized by Folders as I have them in IE. ------------ I had to reload the thread - I was trying to post this message and it was taking too long :(

For the time being I think I need to switch back to IE - posting in FF takes much longer than in IE.

My friend suggested to upgrade to FF 3.5.5 by clicking on Help in FF - the moving circles seem to stop (hopefully they stop permanently).

BTW, I got confused - I'm using AT&T and not Verizon (Verizon was in NY).

I have just installed Firefox 3.5.5 and it has fixed the prolonged spinning wheel effect, that I had on my laptop with the previous version.
