i have problem...

i have post a reply to thread and OP mark my post as answer even though the point is not incremented..

My total post is the same as the before marking the post as answer by OP...

I have checked my profile to see any unmarking is done or not... but my pleaseure no unmarking on my post....

Also, there's a time delay on updating the points. I noticed myself that points only get added after 10-15 minutes or so. Also it has happened in the past that the service was down so they didn't get added but they were still queued and added later on when the service was back up and running.

I also noticed the delay myself but it just about 4 - 5 mins..(at least for me)

the reasons could be:

* time delay on updating the points ( as stated by XIII)

* your answer in the other thread that you have participated in was unmarked elsewhere which decremented 10 points.. negating the 10 points you gain.

I was waited for 25-30 minutes before made this thread...

and I was already checked the my unmarking post points...It was same and still now it is same.

I think i didnt get point of that thread because no unmarking done on my previouse post, as i have checked my unmarking post point...

I think problem is other...

If my post was unmarked then my unmarked posting point would be increased..but it is the same still before posting to thread...

there may be something wonky going on.

I have marked answers and the marks disappeared.

Example:  points for video may be broken

I marked Terri's last reply (honest, I do not do drugs and I can not afford alcohol);

the mark disappeared; I marked it again and (at least the last time that I looked)

it seems to have stuck.

I've been notcing a similar issue. Occasionally I'd create a thread and it would immediately be marked answer.... wonder if anyone else had this happen.

Now i think this is the main problem... I was seen that above post ( which i was addressed here for point )

I have reported this in other threads.

Often it was a new Microsoft person marking threads way too soon ... so, basically, it was a training issue ... the Microsoft staff are supposed to mark threads complete after a few days where this is appropriate ... when it happens, I suggest you use "Alert Moderator".  The moderators can see who did it and advise them.  You can unmark the answer if appropriate and change status to unresolved if appropriate.  One downside is if a Microsoft person marks the answer instead of you, she/he gets your one recognition point for marking the answer which is unfair to you.

I would.  I am sure the moderators would like to see that everyone is treated fairly.

Of course, it is always best to notify sooner rather than later.

Recogniton points are nice to have.  Personally, if it is that old,
I probably would not bother.  It is up to you.  If you participate,
you will get many recognition points by helping other members.

More important:  the proper marking of threads.
When a thread is prematurely closed, others may
not contribute useful comments to that thread.

I'm sorry but I do not think the information you're quoting from GerryLowry's post is in any way related to what you were originally reporting.

Whan a MSFT member marks an answer, they would receive the one (1) point for doing the marking.  The 10 answer points are still applied to the post being marked though. If i'm not mistaken, you thought you had not been awarded the 10 points for your answer.  So in the context of this thread, it does not matter who did the marking.  Regardless of who did the marking, the post being marked is the post that would receive the 10 points.

Keep in mind that the total points number you are looking represents all your posts and all your points.  I'm not really sure how you could correlate your current points count back to a single post.  Also as Kris had mentioned, if there is any issue/delay with the service that accumulates points in real time not updating your total account number immediately, those points would still land on your total score when the service that processes them catches up.  It does seem that your points have moved forward.

I had waited long for this..Before posted this thread i had waited for 20-25  minutes. After krish response, i had checked the my point in edit profile.

But Now, my unmarking post increase to 10. (marking and unmarking of thread).Dont know exactly.

The information you quoted from GerryLowry is talking about the single point awarded to the person who clicks the mark as answer button.  This single point is usually awarded to the threads OP (the person who created the thread) for clicking the mark as answer button.  This single point is never awarded to a member for replying to the thread though.

Note that you can not click the mark as answer button on a post unless you started the thread (or have a site role that allows you to do so). 

In the thread that you originally referred to (this thread), you are not the OP.  So that single point that GerryLowry is referring to is not something that would ever be awarded to you in that thread.  There is every indication that the 10 points for your single post that was marked as an answer was applied though.
