This is regading posting a question on forum on this site.

I know there is  "Tags" when you post a question.

But is it possible to force and/or warn users to select a language preference.

This looks to be a problem because intially users who post question don't mention in which language they are coding. Then a lot many times it is going to be the opposite in which you post a possible solution.

Hope you guys got where I am heading.

This is a very valid point. Very often I find that I have answered a question in the wrong language. With the imminent arrival of F#, it is going to become even more important to determine the preferred language for an answer.

If you mean C# and vb.net then that's not a problem, there is this link:

    http://www.developerfusion.com/tools/convert/csharp-to-vb/

You can convert any code from C# to Vb.net and visa versus.it's reliable and I used it a couple of times and the conversion done with no errors at all

Yes...thats what I also use. Either I provide the Questioner the link to the tool or sometimes convert the code and re-post the proposed solution.

My question is to have the orginial poster provide an option to select the language they are coding in to eliminate the above.

I don't think we can enfornce the users to provide the .NET language they are using, but adding a new profile property like "My Prefered .Net language" and make it appears beside the user name will be helpfull.

I also sometimes go to one of OP old posts  to see what .Net language (s)he used.

The majority of the questions here are not language specific.

Requiring someone to select a language with each question would probably cause more confusion, questions and problems than it's worth.

An excellent idea Sir! However I think that it needs to be "My Prefered .Net languages"as I am bilingual C#/VB.NET and my favourite one is the one that gets me the next contract.

Yep..agree....force or making mandatory as pointed above is not a good idea..

So may be a dropdown to select  preferred language (i.e. optional)

or any such sort of option, if feasible, would be nice to have.

I don't mean to be cynical but if a user isn't bright enough to type, "BTW, I'm using C#" they probably aren't bright enough to manage a dropdown list.
