Not a strictly asp.net related topic today but certainly useful to know when you develop your next website.

I take a day out from asp.net topics to explain how you can get the little icon that appears next to the url in the address bar on many of your favourite sites. You will also find it next to its name if you add it to your favourites.

Yep its the favicon, a staple of every major website but not a topic that you will get introduced to if you are strictly reading dev sites.

    Hey thanks,

I have been doing it for about 2-3 years in asp.net.

Been playing around with other stuff like djgpp, opengl, visual basic, php, perl and whatnot over the last decade or so but I started full time employment about four years ago and spent the first year honing my html/css standards compliant web dev skills.

Run Things Proper! Excellent name for a site! Good article!

With the increasing use of tabbed browsers, fav-icons have become increasing important aid to usability of web pages.

Yep, well spotted! rtp = run tings proper.

It started off as a clan on Return To Castle Wolfenstein and later Day of Defeat: Source.

We got the idea from a Roots Manuva song called Juggle Tings Propa

The clans are long since gone but I stuck with the name for my online dealings and it is still fitting for the world of development I think.
