Per the subject...Although authentication works fine over HTTP, it fails when using NNTP.The correct username is retained, but it will not accept a valid password.
Can someone look into this problem and fix it ?
Thanks !
Hi Juan, when did you start seeing this issue? Was it right after the introduction of Live ID authentication on June 26, or sometime after? We'll work to track this down on Monday/Tuesday.
tmorton: when did you start seeing this issue?
I use NNTP almost daily and it's not working for me today. It had been working for me as recently as thursday and probably friday as well. It definately worked for me after the Live ID integration.

This is very helpful for troubleshooting, thanks!

Is NNTP access still an issue, I seemed to have lost access from Thunderbird over the last week? I've tried forcing authentication and using my Windows live account but this still fails. I've previously simply used the standard anonymous access and this will no longer retrieve message headers or bodies.

re:!> Is NNTP access still an issueYes, it is, although Terri said that they'd work on this on Monday and/or today (Tuesday). It should be fixed soon.
As a status update, we haven't been able to resolve this issue, yet. Still looking into it.
NNTP access should now be restored. Please do let us know if you are still having trouble!
This seems to be working for me again - thank you very much !
re:!> NNTP access should now be restoredIt is, Terri. Thanks !
Do we have another issue with NNTP again. Both Thunderbird and GNUs are failing to connect again.

Looks like it, thanks for letting us know. We'll work to get this fixed ASAP, and I will post back here when it is. (This could be tomorrow.)
As a status update, the issue was identified yesterday. It's a back-end routing issue and we're working with our web host to resolve it. It should be today.
Thanks for keeping us up to date. I think it's been down for a week or so and I've been meaning to report it. Just goes to show I must be one of the few dinosours that prefers the nntp interface. Just can't stand web based discussions - for serious lists.
