I need your help. I have a lap top with Windows Vista x64-bit OS. I had visual studio and SQL Express 2008 SP1 installed on it first. I uninstalled everything and now I am trying to use the Web Platform Installer to reinstall them. During the installation, it required me to reboot after the SQL Server had installed. After I did that, it was no longer responding and I cancelled the installation. After cancelling the installation, I try to complete the installation, but it is reading error. The application did not install successfully. I try to download visual studio 2008 express with SP1 and install it but its reading error too.

How can I solve the problem? 

I had a similiar problem...really it could be a lot. Try a program that cleans the registry (ccleaner.com), check file permissions, space, etc. Try to narrow it down one varible at a time.

2) Then install vs2008 without sql express.

I am downloading the Cleaner and will try your option since I have already tried the other options here. Can I install SQL Server with Advanced Services before installing VWD or vise versa?
