     I have visual studio 2008 team system and visual sourcesafe v 8.0.50727.42 installed on my development machine.  I have no 'Source Control' option available in the file menu

     

    I also have a development version of Visual Studio 2005 installed on the same machine and this does have the source control option available.  Are there any additional files I need to install in VS2008 to use sourcesafe ?

     

    ** we are not using team foundation server at present because of 'incompatabilities' with our database server, so for now im stuck with visual sourcesafe

    One place I would look is under Tools - Options - Source Control, and make sure Visual Source Safe is selected.  Maybe this affects whether the source control option shows in the file menu.

    I recommend you install sourcesafe ctp if you want to use VSS with Visual Studio 2008. You can take a look at the following article:
