Check following stuff
1. Open IE and type http://localhost or 127.0.0.1 and see if it shows iis related webpage.
2. Open Control Panel > Administrative tools > IIS Manager - see if its there.
3. Now go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and look for host file. Open in notepad and see if following entry is there
Else may be you have to uninstall and reinstall IIS.

I'm having a similar issue with my pages not displaying. However when I try to change the hosts file it wont let me save the file. I try to overwrite and it says the directory is wrong please check it. Then try to save it as a different file name and it
wont let me save in the location of the other file. It's driving me mad going round in circles so any help would be beneficial.

If you can't save the hosts file, try running notepad as an administrator (open windows start menu, search notepad, right click it, select run as admin)
Then open the hosts file from within notepad, and you should be able to make changes and save.
Of course you need to have admin permissions on your computer for this to work.
